Audio drives our society in more ways than one can imagine. It surrounds us all day every day, when you’re driving to your job, watching any sort of video with sound, going to a concert, just to name a few. Audio and music are so intertwined with what it means to be human, that almost no matter where someone goes, they will more than likely be using some form of audio. That is what drives me, to chase the ability to influence and inspire people through one of our most basic functions of day-to-day life. Any form of audio has this ability, and that is why I search for any opportunity to make my desire to influence and inspire through audio be my career. I’m looking for any sort of audio work such as music production, live sound, radio, audio for video, video game sound design, you name it. I’m in the process of making my journey out to beautiful Southern California, where I have been working toward for over a decade now. I will be living somewhere in Orange County, California in June 2022 after I graduate. That is where I hope to be able to find my place in this crazy world of ours, and where I plan on finding employment to utilize my skills in audio.

T.J. The D.J., Live on Outcast, OCCR, Owens Community College Radio!

During my last semester of my time at Owens, I worked as the main radio programmer and on-air talent for OCCR. Before school started up for the semester, I spent every Monday-Thursday 10am-3pm doing shifts for OCCR and getting practice with the APEX radio automation software, and the Arrakis ARC-15 board. Then, I began my weekly shifts every Monday from 9:30-10:30. During this time, I speak about whatever topics I decide upon, and I program APEX to play whatever it is I want it to. I eventually began doing my top 5 songs for the week, and adding them to the system. Also, I assisted with most events and remotes OCCR was taking part in, such as Pack the Shac and the College and Career Preview Night, to name a few. I taught others how to use the board and the APEX software, and also lead them when we all went on-air together. I even helped the station manager activate more microphone channels on the board, which required opening up the ARC-15 console!
